Emerging from Berlin, Surf 2 Glory (duo Sanaz & Galleur) are fast becoming unequivocal as one of the most exciting artists’ in the city’s flourishing house movement. Sharing a magnetic synergy behind the booth and a highly contagious ‘lesbian Bert & Ernie vibe’, they never shy away from serving the crowd peaking, whimsical yet ethereal house and trance anthems that transport dancefloors into cosmic realms of pure ecstasy.

First and foremost, can you tell us a little bit about the energy behind this mix and is there anything you would prescribe doing while listening?

We wanted to create a sexy summer set. A soundtrack to go along with the dusky blue sky and later sunsets, whilst being tipsy on some Spritz with your friends. We serve cheeky Dubs, Scouse House and Speed Garage.

Why are you described as bringing a lesbian bert and ernie nrg to the booth :)?

It’s a very accurate description of who we are by our friend Ferrari Rot. When you see us play, we’re both letting go and bring a kinda silly & joyful “anything goes” mentality with us. But you will also sometimes see us passionately debate whether to play a single song or not - it’s always very raw and honest.

You’ve just released your debut 2 track banger EP ‘Dil-Doe’ on Club Heart Broken, can you tell us a little about the theme behind it and how has it been producing for the first time together?

We wanted to create a soundtrack for walking through the streets in your sexiest outfit. A groove that amplifies self-esteem – a feeling like nothing can stop you. A glow that you can only give yourself. Our music aims to push self-consciousness to the max, reassuring us all that we got this. It’s a celebration of amour-propre.

Producing together worked quite well, as we share the same vision and got a lot of support by our Club Heart Broken team member Malugi. We had a blast - really! Also, you can hear both of our voices in the tracks: Greta on the hard “Go” and “Girl” vocals, Sanaz on the other hand is bringing the smooth vibe with her voice.

How is it DJing as a duo?

At the point where we are now, we’re super happy. You have a partner by your side that knows you and that you rely on fully. Also, you are never alone when travelling, which is a huuuge bonus! Being a duo is great, because you can showcase a more diverse taste and always get inspired by the other one’s ideas and finds. Sure, it’s also a lot of compromising, you need to be a good team in order to split up the work and be able to combine two artistic visions into one. This counts for the music you play and produce, but also the whole visual language, social media output, work ethics, etc.

What’s next for Surf 2 Glory?

Probably going to the studio again! We can’t wait to channel all these ideas into new projects. And we’re super looking forward to summer festival season. Playing daytime is always such a cute vibe and often less serious than playing club sets. We feel like it’s easier to smuggle in some of our favorite cheesy tracks when the sun is shining and people are in their lavish festival mood. Gig highlights will be Boiler Room London, Mondo Disco Open Air, Loveland, Melt!, Into The Woods, FLY Open Air, … we’re hyped!
