We are stoked to catch up with Mama Lior, part of Berlin’s Femme Bass  Mafia and until very recently the ‘tik-tok hoe’ for Missy Mag. They’ve  given us a mix to remember to help us all let go and bid adieu to Summer  with.

First and foremost thank you so much for taking the time to put this mix together, can you tell us a little bit about the energy behind this mix, is there anything you would prescribe doing while listening?

The mix is definitely rather high energy and groovy. It’s everything I felt in  summer, when I turn into a different and better version of myself the  second the sun comes out and the temperature rises to 25°+. So if you  wanna feel like that bitch again (at least for an hour), this mix is for you.  <3

Any tracks or producers/artists you want to give a special shout out to?

Success’ by Byron the Aquarius is just a never ending vibe and inspiration  to me.

How long have you been mixing for and who are some of your biggest  influences at the moment (doesn’t have to be only music related!)

I was lucky to be part of the very first round of Femme Bass Mafia’s DJ  mentoring program in 2021.

Regarding my influences, I don’t even know where to start because there  are so many talented people that I look up to, but here’s a little insight:  River Moon, Dinamarca, Byron the Aquarius, Renell Medrano, LCYMI$$ JUNIA, my friends in general, TikTok (lol) - and of course forever Sade.

Femme Bass Mafia is celebrating 4 years of existence with a tour  through central Europe. What’s your role in FBM and  how did you become involved?

4 years of FBM - what a time to be alive! My ex sent me the link for the  application form back then and the rest is history. Apart from being the highly emotional crew member, I’m also in charge of taking press pics and I’m currently taking part in FBM’s Ableton program, which is soooo  exciting.

Does FBM gravitate towards a distinctive sound in particular that  makes it stand apart from other collectives in Berlin you feel?

Femme Bass Mafia focuses on all the beautiful sub-genres of bass music and the creation of safer learning spaces and ultimately forming a community. Something that I’ve been missing in Berlin for so long! That doesn’t mean, that I limit myself to only playing bass music (as you can hear in my mix. House was where my love for electronic music ignited, but I’m obsessed with so many other genres, making it hard to stick to one vibe during my sets.

You recently ended your time at Missy Magazine, what’s next for  Mama Lior? (Where can we catch you playing/any other exciting side  hustles, music or non-music related you’re working on?)

I’m definitely onto something, which I can’t share yet. Besides that, I’m  focusing on learning how to play the drums and getting lost in the Ableton sphere. Fun challenges that hopefully result in the release of a track next year…

Oh, and you can watch me play in Lisbon Outra Cena on the 16th of Nov. or tune into my radio show „Insomnia Hour“ via Refuge Worldwide.
